How long does a hot water cylinder last?
Most mains pressure cylinders
last between 15-25 years. Low-pressure copper water heaters have a wider range of about 10-30 years. If your cylinder is reaching or past 20 years old
it is always a good time to look at a replacement.
When do I need to replace my hot water cylinder?
Usually, a hot water cylinder only requires replacing when it is leaking from the internal tank.
This is usually when there is water all around the base and you cannot see a leak on the attached piping.
What is a tempering valve?
A tempering valve mixes hot and cold water to deliver it at a safe temperature. Without a tempering valve, the water stored in the tank is delivered to the taps at the same temperature stored (Should
be a minimum of 60 degrees) With a tempering valve the water in the tank can be stored at a higher temperature as it is mixed with cold water before
reaching the hot tap. This provides a greater volume of hot water that is
delivered at a much safer temperature.
Why is water sometimes dripping from the pipe on my roof or out the side of my house?
This is normal and allows for the expansion of the water inside the tank when it is heating up.
Why is water always dripping or running from the pipe on my roof or out the side of my house?
This is an issue with the pressure valve/s. Sometimes just a part (washer/capsule replacement) or maybe 1 or more of the HWC valves may need replacing.
Why do I have no gas but the bottle feels full?
On some occasions if it is a newly replaced bottle and the indicator is still red, this means the delivery team did not move the Indicator. You can do this yourself, or if unsure send us an email and well send you a simple PDF instruction page.
